Collector 14" CPK Snacktime Kids were introduced by Mattel at the end of 1995 in time for Christmas and were recalled in Jan / Feb 1997 due to children getting their hair caught in the chewing mechanism. use only for collecting - no playing
Feed me my magic snacks again and again! My mouth really moves as I "eat!". I come with 7 play snacks: Banana with peel, Carrot, Celery, Wafer Cookie, Licorice, French Fry, and Pretzel. Feed me one of my magic snacks.... It disappears when I "eat" it! I chew it up, the food passes from my mouth through my body and when I'm finished eating, look in my pack... Just like magic, my snack is back! The doll is designed not to work unless the back pack is snapped in place correctly.
Has original Birth Certificate and an Adoption Certificate! Name & Birthday are on my wrist tag. Beautiful black hair & brown eyes. I am wearing
Strappy sparkly purple jelly sandals. Cabbage Patch clothing fits me just fine.
Never Removed From Box,
NOTICE: Due to the fact this doll was recalled for being unsafe as a play toy, I offer it for sale to collectors only- and request that it not be given to children as a toy.
These kids are collector items, not toys, because they were withdrawn from the market January 6, 1997 in a voluntary refund program. Snacktime Kids were introduced in the fall of 1996. They were a hit during Christmas 1996. Shortly thereafter Mattel withdrew this product from all retail shelves across the U.S. and discontinued the distribution of the Snacktime Kids dolls. Mattel took this action following reports of people getting their hair and fingers caught in the mouths of the dolls. Testing was done and while there were no serious safety hazards identified, Mattel took these actions with their concern for consumer satisfaction.

Mattel was supposed to put labels on the dolls that were still on the shelves in December of 1996. This is what the label was to say:

Long hair and fingers can get caught in the doll's mouth, and the doll's chewing action can be stopped immediately by removing the backpack. The doll will not operate without the backpack in place.
