These three American composition dolls from the early nineteen hundreds have survived much love and affection by several generations of children. They have been hugged, dressed, their faces have been washed and their fingers have been chewed but they are all still smiling and have more love to give. None of the dolls have had any repairs or repaint. Their painted features are original and all of their bright eyes still invite a smile. The largest with the wig is 16”, the second with the bonnet is 15” and the smallest is 14”. They are all that cuddly size that would have been easy for a child to carry. All have painted features and short, molded paint hair. One has a wig (old replacement) over the molded hair. The baby with the bonnet has its original firmly stuffed cotton body. The lower forearms are composition. There are some paint cracks on the head seam but only surface paint. There is no deep composition damage. The baby has no repairs or repaint. She is wearing a vintage white gown.
The second doll with the wig over the molded hair has a happy expression with large eyes and full lips. There is some surface paint wear on the chin area. The body is straw stuffed and is pin jointed at the shoulders and hips. The paint is missing in areas of the composition forearms. She is wearing a vintage white long gown. She has not repairs or repaint.
The last chubby little body is dressed in red and white vintage rompers. His body is straw stuffed and is jointed at the shoulders and hips. He has a great, happy expression on his face and short molded hair. He is missing several fingers on his composition forearms due to too much love. He has a cheek rub but no repaint or repairs. He has a happy face with a lot of expression. He has a maker’s mark but I cannot read it.
