This signed, Trifari TM griffin brooch is part of a limited 1997 edition from their "Objects of Fascination" Collection. The griffin has the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. This large pin goes all out in terms of its details: enameled wings, a head and body studded with aurora borealis rhinestones, and a rhinestone tail end and eye.
The image was adopted by Christians: “Christ is Lion because He reigns and has strength; Eagle, because after the Resurrection He rises into Heaven.” The griffin position of this brooch looks inspired by medieval heraldic banners and coats of arms, representing strength and power as well as its Christian connections.
Make this your statement piece as well! Those in positions benefiting from its message of power and strength can reinforce that with this "Read My Pin" griffin brooch (former Secretary of State Madeline Albright famously used her brooches to convey messages to those with whom she negotiated and wrote a book about it) . The griffin so clearly conveys a "Don't mess with me!" message.
Measurements: The brooch is approximately 3.25 inches wide by 2 inches tall with a slanted pin back.
Condition: The pin is in very good vintage condition. The metal at the very top of the wings has darkened a bit from wear, but as seen from photos, this minor issue is not noticeable when viewing the brooch as worn. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: It is signed "TRIFARI TM 1997." This limited edition Trifari griffin brooch is rare - there are usually not more than a few available at any one time.
