This is Trifari's cream lucite bead version of the famous vintage Crown TRIFARI “Waterfall” necklace (aka the apple necklace) that is featured in a number of vintage costume jewelry books, as well as in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” when Meryl Streep wore it. I’m not sure a Trifari collection could be considered complete without this classic necklace, which is featured on page 78 of Julia Carroll’s “Collecting Costume Jewelry 101” (2nd ed). It is prettier and more impressive in reality than in pictures.
This Trifari necklace was made in a variety of color combinations. This one is gold tone triple chain with five columns of creamy white lucite beads dangling from the metal arch.
Measurements: The chain that holds pendant measures 15 inches, the middle chain is about 28 inches, and the longest chain is about 33 inches with a fold over clasp. The pendant hangs down 5 inches from its chain, and the dangles total about 2.5 inches wide.
Condition: This necklace is in excellent vintage condition. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Marks: It is marked in two places: “Trifari” is engraved into the fold over clasp; and “Trifari” with the crown symbol over the T and the copyright symbol is on a cartouche on the back of the metal arch supporting the dangling beads. This necklace dates circa 1960-70's.
