This blue beaded necklace was part of Trifari's 1962 Suspended Animation collection and featured in a Town and Country magazine advertisement. It is also shown in Julia Carroll's book, "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202" with a full page display on page 228. The ad itself describes the necklace as a "richly tasseled sautoir, an exciting daytime fashion... from Trifari's long-look collection." It is hard to see, but I believe this one is being worn by the model in the ad.
The Crown Trifari necklace consists of aqua blue oval beads with gold tone, twisted bumpy spacer sections. The dangle has a gold tone elongated cap, with a circle of 9 sets slender blue beads with gold tone balls at the end. Lots of swish!
Measurements: The necklace is approximately 22 inches (55.9 cm) with a fold over clasp. The dangle hangs down 3 inches. Because of its lucite construction, it is light weight and comfortable to wear.
Condition: This necklace is in excellent condition. Please use the zoom feature to review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
Marks: On the foldover clasp, it is marked "Trifari" with a crown. Although not attached to this necklace, the original paper hangtag read "Jewels by Trifari" on one side and the other side read "MADE IN U.S.A." Trifari collectors love pieces like this Suspended Animation sautoir that are featured in vintage advertisements, as well as in research books. To find one in unworn condition with original tags is an extra special treasure!
