This vintage, turquoise basket purse was made in Hong Kong for the Gaymode in the mid century era. The weave is a strong material that is holding up extremely well. The purse itself has great lines and is just plain fun to use. You will love the marbled blue lucite handle and twist clasp.. The bottom has four brassy feet to protect it.
The inside is quite roomy: There are two sides with a thin zippered section in between. One side also have a side pocket going the entire 12 inch width.
I tested this purse out at a very recent, fancy charity (outdoor) event and received several compliments along the lines of "I just love your purse!" I always know my purse is a winner when people I don't know come up to me just to remark on it.
Measurements: The bag measures 7.5 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 4 inches depth. The handle is a 4.5 inch drop to the frame. From personal experience, I can attest that this purse holds a lot.
Condition: The purse is in very good vintage condition. The raffia/wicker is bright and in great shape - color very vibrant. Minor flaws include: very minor crackling to the leather strap; the inside shows some dirt; a mild musty order (I am airing it out!); the vinyl pieces on the sides that stretch when it is opened wide have some tears towards the top. None of this is noticeable from the outside and barely noticeable from the inside. It is very usable. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Labels: The stamped label inside reads "Gaymode, Made in Hong Kong."
