This bright, gold tone pin / pendant was made by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA) in 1990. The sun has an expressive face due to the bee resting on its forehead. Most often MMA jewelry is a replica of actual artifacts, although this may be a variation on a theme. Collectors appreciate their historical significance and quality construction. The "sun" concept is associated with optimism year round; however, there is no doubt that it has a summer vibe!
This is both a brooch and has a large bale to wear it as a pendant. As a free bonus, I have included a wonderful 18 inch, contemporary Avon chain that is attractive in its own right, including a rhinestone center. The third and fourth photos show it with this chain; the 8th photo is a stock photo using a different chain.
Measurements: The pin is 2.4 inches across with a horizontal rollover pin and a good size bail for a chain of your choice to wear as a pendant.
Condition: It is in excellent vintage condition with very minor surface scuffs. Please review all photographs carefully (although the camera tends to be reflected on its surface), as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: The back is marked "MMA c1990." MMA jewelry usually came in limited editions.
