This vintage sterling silver David Andersen butterfly brooch features deep purples, reds, oranges, yellows and green enamel. I am a huge fan of the sterling and enamel guilloche pins that were produced in Norway - this one is larger and more colorful than most!
Side note: When I Norway browsing their antique shops, the butterflies are so popular with collectors that they are difficult to find there (and more expensive than buying them right here!).
Measurements: This pin is 2.125 inches wide by 1.25 inches long. David Andersen would create the same design in a variety of sizes; this is one of his largest versions.
Condition: It is in good vintage condition with a break in the enamel coating (not in the enamel itself) on the left wing. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: It is signed "D-A; 925S; NORWAY STERLING ." David Andersen was perhaps the best known and most prolific of the silversmiths based in Norway.
