This vintage Monet collar necklace reflects the "Monet look" that made the company famous. The thick, center design is a rigid, curvy section that is crewman enamel with diagonal lines, zig zags and gold plated dots. The wide chain extending from each side is a slinky gold done with a fold over clasp. Very dramatic.
Measurements: The necklace is 17.25 inches long with a fold over clasp. The curved, rigid design is 4 inches between its top ends, and 1.25 inches wide. It curves up and around to rise about .5 inches from the bottom surface. It weighs approximately 4.7 ounces.
Condition: The necklace is in excellent vintage condition. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: The necklace is signed "MONET" with the copyright symbol on the back of the clasp and on the back of the center section.
Company History: Monet was in business beginning in 1929, but they did not use the Monet hallmark until 1937. Their use of gold and silver plating and sterling silver was unusual in the mid century time frame. It was meant to have a classic look and relied much more on their design and metal work rather than use of rhinestones.
