This lovely vintage Mexican sterling lily pin is marked 'Maricela,' which was the shop name of Isidro Garcia Pina. The delicate lily has elegant curling petals with detailing for the petals, stamens and stalk. As you will note from the photos, it looks amazing!
This book piece is shown on page 124 of Leslie Pina's "Mexican Silver Jewelry Details."
Measurements: This large brooch is 3 inches tall by 2.75 inches wide with a horizontal rolling clasp. Its total weight is 19 grams.
Condition: The brooch is in very good vintage condition. I acquired it from a charity resell shop, and they had it professionally cleaned. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: Signed on the back Maricela marks: one stamp reads, "HECHO IN MEXICO, 925" and another stamp reads "MARICELA TAXCO 925" and a third stamp reads "STERLING." He used this mark from 1955 to 1980. This is a gorgeous example of the work of Isidro Garcia Pina, aka Maricela. He named the shop for his daughter and was in business from 1943 to 1986.
