This gorgeous, vintage Kramer brooch is truly a work of art! The "Haskell style" brooch features an array of light, slightly pinkish, crystal beads strung along an ornate, antiqued gold tone Victorian style top with a large, saphiret stone in the center. From that dangle three "Italian wedding cake" style beads. This is an intricate piece that is best appreciated by viewing the photos! For example, although the metal base is completely covered, the metal work itself is quite detailed on both the front and the back - a pair of the same design have been sandwiched together. I have never seen another quite like it, particularly by Kramer. If you are a saphiret collector, this is one fabulous pin!
Measurements: This pin is an impressive 3 inches (8.6 cm) wide and 2.25 inches (6.7 cm) tall. The dangles extend about 1.25 inches below the top section.
Condition: The pin is in very good vintage condition. It is done in an antiqued finish, but all the parts - rhinestones, faux pearls, crystals, metal - are in good shape. Please use the zoom feature to review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Marks: The back of the pin has a small cartouche stamped "KRAMER" with no copyright symbol. It looks to be from the 1940's - early 1950's era. Several of the major designers of the mid-century era (most notably Florenza, Regency and Hobe) did a few pieces using saphiret stones; Kramer saphiret pieces are rare.
