This vintage black hat by Glenover Henry Pollak, labeled by Mr. Charles, is 100% wool. It has a taller crown that can rise 4 inches versus the back rise of 2 inches. The hat can be shaped - the photos show the top done three different ways. A grosgrain ribbon goes around the inside brim.
Measurement: The inside circumference is approximately 22 inches (55.9 cm). The crown extends up 4 inches from the base.
Condition: The hat is in very good condition. There are no stains or worn areas, just some lint. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: There is a "Mr. Charles" label attached to the inside ribbon. The maker information is stamped in white on the inside of the hat with "GLENOVER" and below that "HENRY POLLAK NEW YORK" and "100% WOOL." Inside the grosgrain ribbon there is a Union Made label as well (hidden from view). Henry Pollak, Inc. is a well known hat manufacturer from the early 1900s until at least 1970, with the company dissolved in 1990. Many of the listings for his vintage hats date them to the 1960's era. One of its most famous designers, Roy Halston Frowick, a.k.a. "Halston", joined with Henry Pollak to establish Halston International, ready to wear, in 1970.
