This iconic patriotic pin was designed by Lester Gaba in 1941 for the Coro Jewelry Company. It is known as the "Amigos Siempre" or the "Flags of the Americas” brooch. It was made to commemorate the Eighth International Conference of American States, which was held in Lima in 1938. In this day of political divisions, it is the perfect symbol to reinforce our historic ties of friendship!
This pin features 21 enameled flags which represent the 21 American Republics. The flags are grouped together and adorned with a banner which reads "Amigos Siempre" ("Friends Forever"). This brooch was made of enameled gold plated base metal and the flags were painted in enamel which looks hand done.
Measurements: It measures approximately 2.675 inches tall by 2.25 inches wide with a long, horizontal pin back.
Condition: It is in very good vintage condition with minimal enamel loss. The American flag has its red and white stripes but no blue stars! Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
Marks: It is hallmarked on the reverse "Coro" and with "PAT. No. 1308." This book piece can be seen on Page 117 of "Warman's Costume Jewelry," by Pamela Wiggins.
