This vintage gold tone mesh glasses case was made in the U.S. Zone of Germany, which dates it to the late 1940's. It is a fine metal mesh with a salmon colored lining. These are a real upgrade over today's glass cases. History buffs will enjoy the connection to the US attempts to revitalize Germany's economy after WW2 - it feels like you are carrying a bit of our US history with you. It comes in its original box with the owner's name written in pencil on the back side.
Measurements: The case measures approximately 3.25 inches wide and 6.25 inches tall. Check your glasses for fit - it is "just fits" to my 5.25 inch across glasses.
Condition: The case is in good vintage condition with no snags or breaks in the mesh. Functionally, it opens with the appropriate amount of firmness to protect your glasses. One side is brighter than the other; you can see the rectangular spot where there used to be a price label on the darker side. I cleaned it lightly, and that lightened it up. The inside lining looks good. Please use the zoom feature to review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
Labels: The inside label states that is was "Made in U.S. Zone Germany" which dates it to the post WW2 era of late 1940's.
