Huge c1900 hand painted representation of a 15th century Medieval Gothic tapestry on burlap fabric. A large group of people surround what I believe is a wedding ceremony, castles, ocean and boats in the background. The tapestry has a palette typical of true Medieval tapestries, mostly reds, blues and browns. The piece is overall muted and warm in feeling. The back is unfinished, edges turned under. The whole is made up of 2 panels sewn together in the center. There is about 8” or so of the tapestry at the top that does not show in the photos. Approximate size; 7’8” wide x 10’ tall. Wonderful large and dramatic backdrop for a room.
CONDITION; Overall very good condition. Hems are loose in spots. There are small openings in the center seam, three small ones toward the top, one larger at the bottom. No significant stains or damage. I’ve lightly vacuumed this piece, but you should probably expect there will be some dust. :-)
