Pair of late 17th to early 18th century double sided Stuart crystal cufflinks. Each cufflink is composed to two silver mounted buttons connected by a silver link. Under the faceted rock crystal is a fine gold twisted wire design/cypher over a small square of dark woven fabric mounted on bright pink foil. Stuart crystals were first made in the mid 1600s and were popular until the early 1700's. They were originally made as mourning jewels worn after the execution of King Charles (House of Stuart) in 1649.
Each crystal measures approximately 7/16” or 11 mm square. All are in very good, sparkly, clear condition, very light wear. Two have less intense color. Wonderful and rather hard to come by.
Layaway available for full priced items over $500.
