This beautifully detailed cast iron shield is decorated in Renaissance style. I have not identified the original, but I imagine this piece is a copy of a known parade shield. The finish is glowing coppery bronze with darkened patina with verdigris. There is a small foundry or maker’s mark near the hangar. It's a little difficult to read, but appears to be from a manufactory in Ilsenburg, Germany. There is a bar mounted to the back of the plaque for hanging. Very good condition with no damage to mention. Overall size is about 16” wide, 26” tall. Perfect for your castle…… or cottage!
