German bisque lady doll with elaborate molded hairstyle, inset glass eyes, and pieced ears, circa late 1870s, 24 inches tall. Breathtaking!!
CHOICE quality shoulder head with molded blonde hair with curls around the forehead, brush strokes at the temples above the exposed pierced ears, and elaborate coiled braid encircling the top of the head. Little curls are left at the nape of the neck with wavy hair combed up into the plaited braid. Facial features are extraordinary with an unusual open/closed mouth with un-tinted space left between the lips, while the lips are shaded and outlined with darker inner edges. The nostrils and eye corners are accented and her almond shaped eye cuts are outlined. She has individually painted upper and lower lashes and dramatically feathered brows. Her deep brown glass eyes are in the original setting. The back of the shoulder plate is incised "223 - 10". This is a scarce model and is likely Kling manufacture.
She is on a replacement body that is hard stuffed and jointed at the shoulders, hips, and knees. She has un-tinted bisque lower arms and legs. Her legs have wavy blue painted bow garters and black boots with blue molded and painted tassels and tan soles.
Her gorgeous gown is three pieces, fully lined, and appears to be completely hand sewn. It is STUNNING and really flatters the doll. Underneath she has pantaloons and a half slip. A silver mesh purse is pinned to her bodice.
Truly beautiful larger size German bisque lady doll would be a spectacular addition to any doll collection.
