German bisque doll, circa 1870s, cabinet sized at 12 inches tall, with sculpted hair and original folklore costume.
Gorgeous highest quality bisque shoulder head with sculpted blonde hair in short curls, shaded blue eyes, red lid lines and black lash lines, accented nostrils and eye corners, blonde brows, closed mouth, highly blushed cheeks, and partially exposed ears.
Original muslin stitch-jointed body with long porcelain arms with elbows and sew-holes. Body could not be completely inspected without ruining the stitched on original costume. The shoulder plate is clearly in tact, as all edges can be felt to confirm this and it is evident that the costume has never been removed.
Costume is of red wool over muslin blouse, with beaded breast plate on black velvet and edged in green cotton trim. Beaded belt, blue and white striped apron. Underneath she has a red wool flannel slip, over muslin chemise and muslin pantaloons. Original cotton knit stocking and adorable tiny leather shoes with original soles and buckles, green garters tied at the knees which match the green trim of the outer costume. These tiny shoes measure only 1-3/16 inches long and 3/8 inch wide!
Germany, circa 1870. Excellent condition with no scratches or wear to the head, hair, or face. There are moth holes in the red wool as shown, but this is a stunning costume.
