Glorious Parian Doll Head Empress Eugenie, circa 1860 to 1870, with luster feather plume and luxurious scarf hair decorations. Beautiful blonde parian shoulder head with lustre feather plume, scarf, snood and beautifully molded and painted features.
See our 1000X magnification of the facial features which include blue shaded eyes, black lash lines, red lid lines, eye corner and nostril accents, and slightly separated lips with darker separating line. Her cheeks are generously blushed. Her blond hair is thick and wavy and combed away from her face, having a modest widow's peak at center forehead. In back, the hair is held with a raised painted blue snood with connecting beads. The glazed headdress has a blue and white luster feather on the left side and a pink, white, and gold luster scarf which is wrapped around the top of the crown and falls softly to the right side of her head.
The shoulder plate is incised at rear center with the number ' 14 ' which is likely a size marking.
She is on an antique cloth body with parian lower limbs, the boots having glazed black boots with gold tassels and calves with ribbed white molded stockings with lace garters. It is difficult to know if the body is as old as the head. It is definitely antique, but may be a bit later than the 1870s head.
Her vintage costume appears to have been made for her out of a lined silk shantung in a beautiful pale plum color. It has decorative brass buttons in back which hide hooks and eyes underneath. She also has a black netting slip which helps fill out the skirt. The costume has some moisture staining which isn't too noticeable.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, repairs, nor wear to the paint.
