Bye-Lo Baby Doll German Bisque All Original
Darling Bye-Lo baby with 10" head circumference amongst the smallest of this type and dressed in her original costume, circa 1924.
Lovely bisque flange head with incised markings on the neck: "Copr by // Grace S Putnam // MADE IN GERMANY // 32721/? " Markings are tiny and difficult to read. We believe it is from the Kestner Porcelain Factory.
The facial painting is superb with faint blonde brows, outlined eye cuts with individually painted upper and lower lashes, even red nostril dots, and mouth with slightly smiling lips. The cheeks are evenly blushed and the left has a few light scratches (a little powder blusher will cover). The blue glass sleep eyes are perfectly working and in their original set.
The body is the muslin frog body with a crier that works intermittently. The celluloid hands are PERFECT.
The original costume includes long dress with lace (a few tidy mends near the hem), full slip, flannel diaper, matching bonnet. The original owner added hand embroidered feather stitching to the dress and made her an adorable flannel jacket with hand embroidery. This is included with the doll (see photos).
The head circumference is 10" and the baby measures 11-1/2" long with head attached.
Shipping note: We remove the heads to inspect and photograph and then pack the inside with tissue paper to protect the eye mechanism during shipping. We will be happy to include easy directions for reattaching the head if you request it.
