German bisque shoulder head with blonde molded hair in a less seldom seen hairstyle.
The blonde hair has center parted short banks with swirls and curls at the apex of the bangs. There are wonderful brush strokes and wispy modeling of curls around the face and the fully exposed ears. The comb marks are very deep and sharply modeled with curls throughout the hair.
The facial features include blond brows, watery shaded blue irises with darker outlining, black upward glancing pupils and right side highlights. Black lash lines, red lid lines, eye corner and nostril accents are present. The shaded and outlined lips include the center darker line with v which indicates manufacture by the Alt, Beck and Gottschalck Porcelain Factory.
The shoulder plate has four sew holes and there is no marking or mold number. I would date the head to the 1880s.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs, no wear to the face or hair paint. There is faint peppering on the neck and right shoulder as shown in the enlarged photos and a little porcelain pop on the left front plate at the bottom edge, all of which was done during the firing of the head and is not damage.
Measurements: 5-1/2 inches high; 4-3/4 inches across the shoulders; 2-3/4 inches deep front to back.
Lovely expression and beautiful big blue eyes in a head with hairstyle that is seldom seen.
