Wonderful completely hand-stitched early doll nightgown, circa 1860s, with embroidered openwork edging on neck opening and sleeve cuffs. The front buttons all the way down the front with hand stitched buttonholes. The double-seamed sleeves are curved and the gown is long.
This would be suitable for numerous types of early dolls, including French Fashion dolls and even early wax dolls and can be easily hemmed if it is too long for some.
Measurements: Length from center front neck to hem19-1/4 inches. Shoulders 4-3/4 inches between sleeve seams; sleeves 4-3/4 inches long including edging with 3 inch wide cuff openings.
Condition is excellent with no damage or repair. These authentic gowns are so difficult to find in undamaged condition and this one is beautifully made and ready to be added to your doll's trousseau.
