Early Child Dress Cream Cotton Black Print Fancy Braid - Last Chance!
Very early child's dress, circa 1860s in a sweet cotton print with black or very dark brown squares on a cream ground. Accent braiding with a brown vine print adorns the sleeve hems and the slightly ruffled hem of the skirt and it buttons all the way down the back and retains all the original mother of pearl buttons with their hand-stitched buttonholes.
This would look wonderful on a larger German bisque, folk rag, or wax doll!
The dress is beautifully made with princess seaming and curved sleeves. The neck edge is piped and the bodice is partially lined in muslin.
Condition is excellent with no holes or tears and very few very faint age stains, none of which are bigger than the head of a pin.
Measurements: 14-3/4" long from center front neck edge to hem; 8-3/4" across the slightly dropped shoulders; 19-1/4" around chest.
