Early fine wool doll dress to fit a doll about 19 to 20 inches tall, estimated circa 1860 to 1870. This came from a damaged early china head whose body was completely disintegrated.
Beautiful fine wool challis in a chamois color with bold red wool piped accents at sleeve heads, cuffs, and ruffled hem. The neckline and sleeves have scalloped lace trim and the glass shank buttons are covered in the red wool though the top four are worn through. The dress is fully lined and is beautifully made in a combination of machine and hand stitching.
Dress measures 15-5/8 inches long from center front neck edge to hem. Across shoulders between the piping at the armholes is 6-1/2 inches. Sleeves are 5-1/2 inches long not including the lace.
Condition is very good. There is some light age soiling and some moth holes, but all very minor and the dress is strong and displays beautifully.
