Early French fashion doll costume in black silk, 1860s, beautifully made in a small size. Modeled by my 13 inch parian which is just the model and is not included in this listing.
Two pieces including fully lined bodice with piped hem, bound collar and tatted edging at neck and sleeves. Decorative brass buttons down the front. Fully lined in tan French polished cotton.
Skirt is also fully lined in tan cotton and has a set in waistband of the tan cotton. Elegantly ruched with billowing bustle area and sweep train. Silk fringe and velvet edged pleated over hem.
Measurements: Bodice is 3-1/2 inches across shoulders between sleeve seams; 7-1/4 inch bust; 6-1/2 inch waist; 2-1/12 inch sleeve. Skirt has 8-1/2 inch waist; 9 inches long in front; 13 inches long in back. (doll modeling measures: 16 inches tall; 6 inch bust; 3-3/4 inch waist; 3-1/4 inch shoulders; 4-3/4 inch arm.)
Condition is very good with some fabric loss as shown. For a silk costume well over 150 years old, it is very good indeed.
