China shoulder head known as Highland Mary with deeply molded bangs and overall curls. The bangs have beautiful molded stippling over the forehead and temples and over the partially exposed ears.
The facial features include shaded blue eyes and black lash lines, right side pupil highlights, accented lips and nostrils, and darker separating line between the lips. The shoulder head is unmarked.
This head would make a doll about 18 inches tall when mounted on the appropriate body and would be valued in the $350-$400 range. Head measures 4.5 inches tall, 4 inches across the shoulders, and 2.25 inches deep front to back. All plate measurements are taken in a straight line on the underside of the shoulder plate.
Condition: Excellent. There are a few kiln pepper marks on the neck from the firing process as shown. Tiny flake on the left rear shoulder edge near the sew hole. See magnified close up. No other chips, cracks, or repairs. Very minor wear to the hair on the high profiles areas. White areas showing in the photos on other parts of the head are merely reflections from lighting the highly glazed surface. There is absolutely no wear to the facial paint.
