Civil War Era circa 1860s china shoulder head, 6-1/2 inches tall, with a very old shoulder crack.
She has the flat top or high brow hairstyle typical of the era. Her modeling is sharp with a gorgeous profile and wonderful artistry in her painting and she has a very deeply sloping shoulder plate with six sew holes.
Her facial painting includes shaded blue eyes with white highlights to the right of the pupils, single-stroke eyebrows, black lash lines and red lid lines, a slightly smiling mouth, red oval nostril and eye corner accents. Her cheeks are finely blushed.
Condition: Crack to left front shoulder plate that ends under her chin. There has been no attempt to stabilize the crack and there is no evidence that is has worsened over time. There is typical rubbing to the hair paint, but the face is free of scratches and rubbing.
Priced to compensate for the damage.
Measurements: 6-1/2 inches from base of plate to top of head; 5-1/2 inches across the shoulders; 3 inches deep front to back inside the shoulder plate. This head would make a doll approximately 24 inches tall when mounted on the proper body (a 19 to 20 inch body would be perfect).
