Lovely china shoulder head doll, 19-1/2 inches tall with exceptionally sharp modeling and fine, even facial painting.
She has shaded blue eyes, black lash lines, red lid lines, and mouth with the details of the A. W. Fr. Kister Porcelain Factory. The mouth painting is the most distinctive of all styles by this factory. The upper lip has low, far spaced peaks, and the lower lip is much shorter and shaped like a horizontal oval. Her cheeks are evenly blushed. She has four sew holes on her deep shoulder plate. As shown, there is a very old one inch hairline on the front shoulder plate which begins at the left front sew hole. It has not traveled and is hidden by the beautiful dress.
The cotton twill, sawdust stuffed, body is jointed at hips and shoulders and has the original 1860s china lower limbs. There are no cracks, chips, or hairlines on the limbs and the legs have flat black boots with pink laces and pink garters. I have not undressed the doll because the gown is so gorgeous and it is stitched on. I have searched the lower have and felt it closely and I do not believe there is any damage and there are no sawdust leaks. I cannot tell the age of the body fabric, but clearly the lower limbs are the same era as the head.
She is dressed in a vintage brilliant gold silk gown with overall machine embroidery. It is absolutely stunning in my opinion. It is trimmed with lace and black hand embroidery which accentuates the lace. It is beautifully made. Underneath she has antique cotton undergarments in linen weave cotton with tatted lace edging.
Condition: Very good. One inch hairline hidden on front shoulder plate, light wear to the paint.
