Adorable Gladdie, the character portrait doll of designer Helen Jensen. Germany, circa 1925. Helen Jensen sculpted this doll in the likeness of her daughter and was commissioned by importer George Borgfeldt of New York City from German doll makers. This particular head is biscaloid, with blue glass sleep eyes. Doll is inscribed on her neck. The doll is 17” tall with composition arms and legs and cloth body. She is wearing her original dress and under garment. Both are faded and lightly soiled. She is weari g her original oilcloth shoes. Her face has very good coloring as does her hair. Her face has some nicks on her nose and cheek. She has some minor rubs also. Overall she is a beautiful doll that is becoming harder to find. I will remove her head for shipping so I can pack her head and keep her eyes from moving. Head can be reattached with a few stitches around the neck.
