We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful mahogany bubble glass triple door breakfront cabinet with a butler’s desk insert dating from the 1950s era. It was purchased on the east coast in the original brown finish with a triple door section top with mahogany grillwork. It has two shelves in each section and is crown molded. The base is flame mahogany with two drawers above the cabinet doors. The butler’s desk on the top drawer and then three large drawers below. It is a two piece unit. We had to replace the panel on the bottom of the base cabinet on the back as it had a hole in it from shipping, but it is all set to go. There was a handle missing on the base, which we found a similar one that doesn’t match 100%, but it is very close. The cabinet itself has all the original finish. The overall size is 60 inches wide, 12 inches deep on the outside of the base, 14 inches deep in the center of the base, 11 inches deep on the top cabinet and 78 inches tall overall. The finish on the piece has had an oil. There are a few rub marks on the corners and normal nicks and dings. There is a tag on the inside saying it was made by the Saginaw Furniture Shop out of Michigan back in the 1950s. It is a great little butler’s desk. When you open the top drawer and flip the front down, it reveals a cubby hole interior. They call it a butler’s desk because back in the day the butler used to keep his receipts and recipes in the desk drawer and use the rest of the cabinet for his duties.
