We are pleased to be offering today this original finish tiger sawn oak fireplace mantle that came out of a home in Bangor, Maine. It is in wonderful original condition. It is all tiger sawn oak with pillars, applied carving on all four corners of the mirror and across the face of the fireplace opening. A small piece of the wood carving is missing on one section about the size of a fingernail. You have to study it to notice it. I cannot believe it but all the mantles I have owned over the 50 years of business, this is one of the first that has the paper label still present on the back. This beautiful mantle dates from the 1890's era and is in wonderful original condition. The exterior dimensions are 60 inches wide and 85 inches tall. The size of the oval bevel glass mirror is 35 inches wide and 17 inches high. The size of the fireplace opening is 42 inches wide and 36 inches high. This can be adjusted by the ceramic tiles that are placed around the surround that most people use if needed. The pillars are nice with the capitals on top. It has egg and dart molding across the top shelf and dentil molding across the wide shelf underneath the mirror. The shelf under the mirror is 48 inches wide and 10 inches deep. There is an old time crack in the wide shelf that doesn’t have anything to do with the structure. It is an age crack. It is a nice mantle with the oval mirror. It is all set to go into the home Shipping starts at $385 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
