A very pleasing, finely-turned William IV mahogany extendable candle stand on tripod base with original bun feet. The top of this stand can be turned to almost twice its height which would allow the light from the candlestick sitting on it to shine over a greater area. As mentioned, the pedestal is just beautifully and finely turned, as is the circular top...certainly the work of a master craftsman.
The stand measures 12 1/2" high as pictured in the first photo. The top measures 8" in diameter and the base measures approximately 7 3/8" from foot to foot. The piece is in wonderful condition. There are no chips, cracks, deep scratches or restorations and it is quite sturdy. The mahogany is a lovely deep color and has a soft, lustrous finish...probably the result of years of being hand-polished. The top is nicely grained. Truly one of the finest candle stands I have had! Perfect for use as a plant stand, wine bottle stand or extra side table.
