A very pleasing mid-19th century English hand-blown and cut glass compote executed in a rich, deep amber. This attractive compote features a wide flared rim, a panel-cut band around the base of the bowl and has a polished pontil.
The compote stands 5 1/8" high, measures 7" in diameter across the top, 3 1/2" across the base and is in very, very good condition. There are no chips, cracks or regrinds and there is no staining. The base has expected soft wear. This fine quality, heavy glass compote weighs an impressive two pounds! As mentioned, the glass is a fabulous burnt-honey color and has a wonderful brilliance and clarity.
The stone fruit displayed with the compote in the last photo is not included with the piece and is used only for the purpose of size reference.
