A superb circa 1760 English hand blown, colorless lead glass wine with graceful bell-shaped bowl and intricate lace twist, alternating with spiral thread, opaque stem. The wine glass has a conical foot and rough pontil. It has been tested with a black light...and passes the test.

This exceptional glass stands 6 1/4" high and measures 2 3/8" in diameter across the opening, 2 5/8" in diameter across the foot. It is in very, very good undamaged condition. There are no chips, cracks or regrinds. The glass has wonderful clarity and brilliance. Just a beautiful shape and fascinating opaque twist.

Examples of these rare opaque-twist combinations can be found in Chapter X, 'Opaque-Twist Stems' of 'Eighteenth Century English Drinking Glasses' by L.M. Bickel.
