A very fine English rosewood table snuff box with a different, intricate engine-turned design on both the top and bottom. Additionally the top is turned on the inside to match the design on the bottom. Just a beautifully crafted piece!
The box measures 1 3/4" high by 2 3/8" in diameter. It is in very, very good undamaged condition. There are no chips, cracks or restorations and the top fits snugly. The rosewood is nicely grained and has that lovely warm, mellow patina that only time can produce.
This wonderful piece dates to the first quarter of the 19th century and is truly a fine example of this artistic decorative technique that was so popular throughout the Georgian period.
