Offered is a vibrant painting of a cabin by a lake by noted Oregon artist Thayne J. Logan (1900 - 1991). Painting measures 18" x 24" and is nicely framed (25 1/4" x 31 1/4"). Logan was a partner at the Logan & Murtaugh architectural firm and this piece was painted on the back of one of their early signs.
Born in Joplin, Missouri on Oct. 14, 1900. Logan moved to Oregon at an early age and was educated at the Universities of Utah and Oregon. He studied painting with Leon Keller and Sidney Bell. While based in Portland, he made painting trips to California and was active on the Monterey Peninsula in the 1930s. Logan exhibited at the Portland Art Museum in the 1940's. Logan died in Portland on Jan. 31, 1991.
