Chatham was born Doris Hoag Clark in Toronto, Canada. She married German born Professor and writer Heinrich Meyer while attending Rice University in Texas. The signature on the print reflects her name at the time, Doris Clark Meyer. Chatham traveled extensively and after her marriage with Clark ended she found herself teaching in Washington before moving to France to study printmaking with Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17. Later she moved to California where she met and married the painter Russell Chatham. This is a great opportunity to own a beautiful print by an artist who is just now becoming recognized for her contributions.
