Victorian necklace, French jet beads, hand carved, antique mourning jewelry.
It seems these black bead necklaces have never gone out of style in over 100 years. This one has been re-strung at some point and I think somebody put two different necklaces together to make a long necklace. The more rounded faceted beads are larger and were probably a choker style necklace that was too small. The smaller faceted beads are more angular with fewer facets. All the beads are hand cut and a little different.
It is in excellent condition with a bit of wear on some of the beads. It is 29 inches long and the center bead is 5/8 inch in diameter. It was restrung on nylon cord with a "C" clasp.
Mourning jewelry will sparkle in candle light, so pretty and mysterious!
