Antique trinket box, bracelet presentation box, Victorian, embossed floral, silk lined.
This is simply beautiful. It is VERY old and I have not tried to clean it. It would clean up, but a 130 years of dust in the embossed design allows you to see it better in the pictures. I thought this was celluloid, it looks like it and it's light weight, but when you look closely at the corners, there a folds, like paper. It must be very heavy, embossed paper and it has a shiny coating on it, like enamel paint or something similar. I think it is a wooden box underneath it all.
The box works well and the clasp works, just amazing. The outside of the box is in excellent condition, and the pink silk lining is fading and fraying a bit, but not bad for it's age. The outside could use cleaning, maybe, but I see no other problems, no chips or cracks.
It measures 5 & 7/8 inches by 4 & 1/4 inches by 2 & 3/8 inches. A nice sized display for use on your bedroom vanity or shelves.
A rare find, still gorgeous after all these years.
