Juice bakelite earrings, articulated hoops, lavender prystal.

To say they are rare would be an understatement. I had a quite a bakelite collection in my day and I have only had one other lavender piece in prystal bakelite out of hundreds of pieces of prystal bakelite. Like all vintage bakelite, these earrings have acquired a patina, sometimes lavender turns to a light orange or gray or a combination of both. When you hold these up to the light, you see the lavender. They could be refinished and would return to their original color, but that would also mean, they would no longer test as bakelite with chemicals because it is the patina that causes the reaction. I may go ahead and refinish them when nice weather arrives, we will see.

I am addicted to prystal or juice bakelite hoop earrings, I have sold a few, but still have 40 pairs or more. I think these are the very best. The springs are strong. No chips, cracks or crazing. Excellent condition. total drop of 2 & 1/8 inches and the hoop is 1 & 1/2 inches in diameter. It is domed on the front and flat on the back. The color was impossible to capture in a photo, not enough sun in Chicago.

For the bakelite collector, they represent the best of the best in prystal.
