Vintage orange sapphire eternity band in 18K gold with black rhodium, rose cuts.
It's gorgeous, such pretty orange stones that pop against the black. Gotta love rose cuts, they sparkle like mad, and show off the color to it's best advantage.
It's a bit of a puzzle, and I spent of better part of the morning running around Chicago's diamond district with it. They are rose cuts, full holland cuts and nicely done. There are no markings on the ring. I had it put on the big machine (XRF) and the metal is 18K gold. You can tell it's white gold, as a lot of the black rhodium has worn off over the years.
The ring is a 6.75 on my sizer and it's pretty accurate, it's a little smaller than a 7. It can't be sized. The band is 5/16 inch wide and the stones are just short of 4mm in diameter, there are 17 stones in the band. The color is so uniform, the stones must be enhanced with beryllium. They are all prong set with open backs. I have a feeling this ring was originally white gold and somewhere down the line, it was coated with black rhodium. I like the look.
It's in excellent condition, except for the finish wear, which can be re-done.
A striking and beautiful puzzle of a ring. Wear it alone or as a stacker. Questions are always welcome, I will do my best.
