Art Deco celluloid vanity box, jeweled jewelry box.
It doesn't get any better than this in the wide world of celluloid trinket boxes.
It's incised and painted and studded with rhinestones in a fascinating design with a gorgeous and intricate metal applique. WOW! Cream celluloid top and bottom. I thought the sides were bakelite and I was told they were bakelite, but they don't test with simichrome. I think the whole thing is celluloid. Apple juice celluloid sides, such a translucent and rich color.
It is the perfect accessory for your vanity. Great for rings, earrings or any sparkly doo-dad you can name. It is 1 & 3/8" deep, 3 & 5/8" wide and 3 & 1/4" front to back. It is in remarkable shape, all the stones are in place, the paint is great. There is a chip or two near the hinge, visible in the pictures, but it is still sturdy and usable, no problem there!
