Vintage silver plate bowl, Sheffield, 1950's.
A VERY handsome bowl, sterling silver electroplate over copper, 40's or 50's, by the hallmarks used. It may be coated with something to hold off the tarnish, it's very shiny and as you know, I don't polish silver.
The Sheffield Silver Co. Sheffield was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 1908. They moved from New York to Norton, Ma. and became a division of Reed & Barton in 1974. This mark was used until the late 40's or early 50's.
In excellent condition, no issues, it would make a beautiful fruit bowl or serving bowl or decorative accent for any party table.
Measuring 8 ¼" across the top and 4 ¼" tall, it weighs 1 lb 6 oz. A substantial bowl!
