Vintage hat from Marshall Field's, 1944
No problem dating this one! It's right on the tag. I miss Field's and so does most everyone else in Chicago. They had such high quality inventory! Their motto "Give the lady what she wants". Perfect...
Even though we don't have Fields anymore, we can still have some of their vintage merchandise. I have one of their 30's rugs in my house, a little threadbare in spots, but gorgeous.
I wear a hat everyday, don't you? This one is chocolate brown felt with long powder blue beads that are clear plastic and lined with color, giving them a great shine and depth. It was made in New York. The outside looks mint, the inside is missing some gross grain ribbon trim. It is not really needed and not seen when worn. it's a modified skull cap or Juliet cap with gentle scallops. Wear it to the side, or back on the hear or anywhere you feel like. It will fit anyone, as it sits on the crown of your head, measuring 11" over the top from east to west or ear to ear.
Shun those new fashions made in China, buy American, these were made to last and stand the test of time.
Hey, Chicago, Whaddya Say?
