An extraordinary rare pair of mobile pierced earrings by Eve Kaplin, wearable art at its best
These multicolored earrings are in the Memphis style of which she is well known.
Flexible metal construction with enamel paint in the vibrant primary colors of Red, Blue, Yellow & Green.
4 inches long when fully extended
Unsigned although Eve Kaplin's work is recognizable amongst collectors.
Her signature collection was called Mechanical and Mobile as they were playful, moveable, architectural type pieces with a sense of fun.
Pieces were made from enamelled metal with all "cold connections" - no soldering or metalsmithing, using rivets and jump rings
Eve's life was sadly short,  she passed away at 29 years old of a severe viral infection, January 2, 1985.
Her designs were obviously influenced by the Memphis movement.

An exact pair was donated to the Smithsonian by Eve Kaplin and they are dated 1984, Mechanical Earrings #5
