This is a wonderful, estate fresh, D. Saunders Sons #1 pipe or tubing cutter. This piece has the manufacturer stamp, as well as PATD NOV.23, 1880 and REISS.JAN.31,1882 on the arm. The number one is molded into the frame.
This piece is in original, as found condition, and has all the original patina. This great old piece has not been cleaned or restored, but as to be expected in a piece of this age, has some surface putting, abrasions dings and dents which give the piece character. The cutting wheel works fine, and all the rollers work. The piece still has the original ribbed handle. The threaded shaft on the handle is also in good shape. To reduce shipping costs the handle has been removed from the frame, but only needs to be threaded back into the frame. The overall assembled length of the tool is approximately 17".
