Stunning Teplitz bust stands 11" high, is 5" deep, and 8 1/2" across. The facial detail is truly lifelike, and there are added touches - the pipe in his pocket, the stud earrings in his ears, and the plume in his hat - which round out the picture of a mature man, full of energy and a zest for living.
It is marked as shown on the base, and the "AS" mark is for Alfred Stellmacher. Stellmacher founded a porcelain company in Austria in 1859, and sold it in 1894. This piece was made during that time frame. There is an incised "1074" and a "C 10."
The piece is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
