Grainger & Company Potpourri Jar circa 1890
Hand Painted and Gilded Covered Potpourri Jar. Marked Royal China Works Worcester, G & Co. over Established 1801 within shield. The top is marked with the same mark. The ivory ground ovoid body enameled with pink carnation like flowers, green leaves and gold highlights. Rests on a footed base with gilded trim. This beautiful piece stands 10½" high, and 6" in diameter and rests on cornucopia form feet. It is accented with openwork on the top of the jar that is both decorative and functional, allowing the jar to serve it's intended purpose as a potpourri container by letting the fragrance of it's contents escape into the room.
Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs or crazing. Underside of top and inside of jar show yellow in photo. This is due to lighting and is not the true color. The entire jar is Ivory in color, both inside and outside.
