This box has an outside diameter of 16", and a height, with lid on, of 7 1/4". The wood is a light color, maybe birch, and has been varnished. We do not know where, or when, this box was made. It is Shaker style, but does not have the finger joints seen on these fine boxes. There is one large, and one smaller, scrap style decal, on the top, and extending down the side of the lid. The box has a 6 1/2" wall, the lid 2 1/4", which overlap, and are fastened with old, rusting, nails. The box has an additional loop of wood, 1 1/4" wide, which goes around the base twice. The top edge of this box is very roughly cut, and not at all even. In excellent condition, and a great display item.
